Job Description
Responsibilities
- Explores design options and leads the creation of design and accountable to ensure business and technical requirements are met
- Defines and leads overall testing requirements and strategies ensuring software fully meets business, technical and operational requirements
- Works independently with minimum technical and management guidance, taking ownership of problems within own area of knowledge
- May act as point of contact or a subject matter expert for technical issues for a specific work stream within a larger project
- Proactive identification of change or assists with improvements to prevent problems, including problem resolution workflow
- Identifies areas of improvement within immediate area on an on-going basis
- May provide technical support to customer or operations teams
- May lead a small project
Required skills
- Strong Core Java programming skills
- Knowledge of common data structures (lists, sets, maps, stacks, queues, trees & graphs) and their algorithms
- Knowledge of common searching/sorting algorithms and their performance characteristics using Big O notation
- Knowledge of the core Java Collection classes and when to use each one
- Experience of developing a multi-threaded system
- An understanding of the Java Virtual Machine, memory model and garbage collection
- Experience with at least one NoSQL technology from: Elasticsearch, SOLR, MongoDB, Cassandra, Spark, Hadoop
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- A degree in computer science or a related field
Desired Skills
- Experience in search, or large volume structured/unstructured data processing
- Experience with public cloud, AWS, Azure or similar
- Experience with automated deployments or related systems: Puppet, Docker, Chef, Vagrant
- Experience with a functional programming language, such as Scala
- Experience with a range of quality and design methodologies: CI, TDD, BDD, DDD, performance testing, code coverage
- Experience with agile methodologies
- Experience with financial services terminology and processes
- Experience with machine learning, or other AI technologies
